Data Hierarchy

One of the most important aspects of the new system is the data hierarchy. The Data hierarchy has the following main purposes.

  1. To provide information that is used by the policy driven workflow and security engines
  2. The Visual ordering of information on the screen
  3. The ability to click between documents
  4. The ability to group documents by attribute such as system or manufacturer and model
  5. The ability for relevant information to be changed in a parent record and for those changes to also appear in all child records - see Data Integrity Engine
  6. The ability to export data so that it can be further analysed in Excel

The attributes which are used to position documents in this hierarchy are known as "Meta Data". These will include :

Plant
Area
System
Criticality
Equipment Type ( 2 stage )
Manufacturer
Model
Registration Number ( PV Number )
Tag ( see Tag Functionality )

In addition to the above user visible meta tags the following backend attributes will be used :

For all records

PlantUnid_tx
AreaUnid_tx
ItemUnid_tx
DocUnid_tx
ParentUnid_tx
SystemUnid_tx

For some records

FailureUnid_tx
NoteUnid_tx
MaintPolItemUnid_tx
ActionUnid_tx

Notes from 30/3/10

Loop will be a drop down tag rather than a document
Trips and Alarms will each have their on equipment header which will double as the "register doument"
Failures will be created from this header / Register as will notes to file etc..

Control Valves will have their own equipment headers, maintenance policies etc..
